About Us
SpringBridge was established by mental health professionals who recognized the inequities within the mental health field and the underrepresentation among clinicians. This lack of diversity and varied backgrounds significantly impacts attendance in therapeutic programs among underserved communities. Although mental health professionals receive training to work with diverse groups, there is a marked difference between training and lived experience. Direct experience is often more impactful, offering invaluable perspectives to individuals seeking treatment from those of similar backgrounds and comparable situations.
Our vision is to increase the diversity of mental health professionals by providing clear pathways for individuals from disadvantaged communities to enter the career field. Our goal is to become a leader in guiding the next generation of students from concept to career, with a strong emphasis on mentorship and community support. We are committed to establishing educational standards and programs that ensure any career is attainable, irrespective of one's background.
SpringBridge will be recognized as a community-driven program. SpringBridge Community Centers will be operated by clinicians who have graduated from the SpringBridge Enrichment Program, ensuring that education is just the beginning of a journey resulting in career development. This approach empowers professionals to serve the community they come from, fostering trust and reliability in mental health services inside the community. We aim to become a model for other industries to develop pathways to career access through like programs that include enrichment education, mentorship, and career development.
