What is a Statement of Purpose?
A Statement of Purpose is a short written reflection that helps us understand your goals, interests, and motivation for joining the CAARE Enrichment Program. It gives you the opportunity to share your story in your own words, including what has shaped your interest in mental health, the experiences that have influenced you, and what you hope to gain from participating in SpringBridge.
There is no “right” or “wrong” response. We are not evaluating writing style or academic performance. Instead, we want to learn about your commitment, curiosity, and vision for your future. Your Statement of Purpose helps us ensure that SpringBridge is the right fit for your goals and that we can best support you throughout your education-to-career journey.

Length
Please limit your Statement of Purpose to no more than two pages. Most submissions are between 300–600 words, but applicants may write more if needed to fully share their goals, experiences, and motivation.
Format
Submissions may be typed or handwritten (if handwritten, please ensure it is legible). Any standard font and spacing are acceptable.
Content Guidance
We are interested in your interests, goals, and motivation, not grammar or writing style. Please share what has influenced your interest in mental health, what you hope to gain from the CAARE Program, and how you see this experience supporting your future.
Support and Access
If you need assistance writing or submitting your Statement of Purpose, or would prefer to share your responses verbally or in another format, please contact us. We are committed to making this process accessible.
Use of AI Tools (Including ChatGPT)
Applicants are welcome to use tools such as ChatGPT or other writing aids for formatting, brainstorming, or organizing ideas. However, the Statement of Purpose should reflect your own voice, experiences, and perspective.
We are most interested in the heart of your story: What motivates you, what you’ve experienced, and what you hope to pursue. While tools can help with structure or clarity, the content should come from you.
Confidentiality
All Statements of Purpose are reviewed confidentially and used only for application and program placement purposes.
